Rat attack...happy new year. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

chinese new year, had a week off, well as long as i worked sat and sunday. egh anyways, i did some work during the break, which was actually fun. but break was break. Chinese new year celebrations were great. Shanghai wasn't very crowded which was good and most places were still open, at least grocery stores, which is all that really mattered. no meat, and no dvds, very good.

This was insane. I’m sitting in my apartment and I’ve been hearing and seeing fireworks go over the entire city for the past half hour, straight. It’s fantastic at the same time, after 30 minutes, mafucker starting to wear on me. Wow that’s a lot of fireworks.

We had our firework party on new year’s eve, but I think this is more. New Year’s eve, we bought about 50 dollars worth of fireworks, went down to the bund area and found a couple of kids who lived near by and asked them to join us and just went to town. It was fun, they were adorable, practicing English with us and stuff, probably 8 or 9 years old, oh man wouldn’t you kill to be that young again? Possibilities. Anyways, when it was midnight, the entire bund area started putting up fireworks but I think today, the 5th day of the lunar year is even more crazy. I believe the 5th day of the lunar year is welcomes the god of wealth in chinese mythology. however there are 5 gods of wealth. which one I'm not so sure, and I've spent the last half hour at work trying to find out. and asking my colleague didn't help. mythology isn't so much in these days and different people celebrate different things. well i'm out. back to work.

SUPERBOWL china style

so watched the superbowl, hats off to the giants, rooted for them for the second time in my life and both times they played the patriots. what an incredible game. If Brady hit moss on that 3rd hail mary a little farther out, he might have gone to the house on that. anyways, that was a great game. So we watched this at a local sports bar via a phillipino satellite channel. We had to endure pretty much 2 commericals being run during every commerical break. they had this commercial for "Alaska" brand powdered milk that ran a whopping 21 times followed by a commerical for JVC 7 times and the rest were random promos for the network featuring different sports. The "Alaska" milk powder spot featured a soccer game with little kids and how "alaska" was of course needed for proper development and helps bridge the Growth gap, whatever the hell that is. All I know is I want Alaska powdered milk, and I want it now. and yes I skipped work to watch the superbowl, and it was worth it (yes I also precleared it with my boss)
